Luis Fonsi


In 1998, Luis released his debut studio album, Comenzaré. The music product reached No. 11 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart, the singles on the album are “Si Tu Quisieras”, “Perdóname”, “Dime Como” and “Me Iré”. [2]

In 2002, he was the opening performer of Britney Spears’s Dream Within a Dream Tour in the US and Mexico regions.

In 2007, Luis Fonsi was selected as a member of the jury of the new version of Latin boy band Menudo. [3] The new band will be a mix of urban, pop and rock music in English and Spanish to produce albums with publisher Sony BMG Epic Records. Auditions are held in cities like Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, New York, and several others. Fonsi was part of a competition in Dallas where together with radio announcer Daniel Luna they selected many contestants and of which rising star JC Gonzalez was one of the 25 chosen.

In November 2009, Luis Fonsi was awarded the Latin Grammy Award in the “Song of the Year” category for the song “Aquí Estoy Yo”.

In January 2017, the male singer released the single “Despacito” in collaboration with Daddy Yankee. Despacito quickly climbed to number one on most of Billboard’s latin music charts, while the song’s video became the most viewed video on YouTube. In April of the same year, Justin Bieber contributed to the English remix and has since brought this mix to the top of the Hot 100 chart.

In November 2017, he released the song “Échame la Culpa”, with Demi Lovato, appearing at number three on the Hot Latin chart. The song won the “Song of the Year” award at the 2018 Latin American Music Awards and received a nomination for best latin song at the MTV Music Video Awards. As of 2018, the song has sold over 1 million copies worldwide.

In June 2018, Fonsi released the single “Calypso”, with Stefflon Don. The song peaked at number 11 on the Hot Latin chart. On November 2, 2018, he collaborated on Clean Bandit’s track “Baby” from their second studio album. The song is at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot Dance / Electronic Song and at No. 15 on the UK Singles Chart.

In October 2018, he collaborated with Italian singer Eros Ramazzotti for the song “Per le strade una canzone”, from the album Vita ce n’è.

On January 13, 2019, the singer joined Wisin, Alejandra Guzmán and Carlos Vives as coach of Spain’s first La Voz season by Telemundo.

After five years since “8”, on February 1, 2019, his 10th studio album “Vida” was released. The playlist contains “Despacito (Remix)”, “Échame la Culpa” and “Sola”. The album topped the Billboard Top Latin Album and Spanish Album Chart, and ranked at No. 18 on the Billboard 200.

In 2019, Fonsi performed “Right Where I Supposed to Be” as the Official Song of the 2019 Summer Olympics Special Olympics 2019 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates with Ryan. Tedder, Avril Lavigne Hussain Al Jassmi, Assala Nasri and Tamer Oh.
